چکیده

Pollution of aquatic bodies by pharmaceutical compounds is an emerging environmental problem because these drugs are extensively used in animal and human medicine. Ibuprofen, 2-[4-(2-methylpropyl)phenyl] propanoic acid, the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug mainly present both wastewater rivers lakes Europe. Despite this emergency giving rise a great interest scientific community, literature about effects ibuprofen on microalgae scarce. A previous work freshwater microalga Scenedesmus rubescens had shown some morpho-physiological caused treatment with 62.5, 250 1000 µg L−1 ibuprofen. In paper, we presented results at same concentrations, ranging from levels up to higher values, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (P.J.L. Dangeard). Ibuprofen alga were assayed through analyses growth curve. Moreover, cell morphology, ultrastructure, photosynthetic pigments performed. The first effect was stimulation growth. addition, following exposure ibuprofen, cells exhibited morphological ultrastructural alterations, latter ones consisting starch granules vacuolar cytoplasmatic inclusions. On contrary, chlorophyll carotenoids amounts, not affected treatment.

Morpho-physiological responses in Alnus subcordata and Acer velutinum seedlings to drought stress

In this study, the effect of drought stress on morphological and physiological characteristics of two forest species: Alnus subcordata and Acer velutinum, which are used in natural forest restoration and afforestation, was evaluated. A factorial experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design with two factors (two species and four levels of drought stress: (25% (severe stress),...

Hematological responses of Goldfish (Carassiusauratus) to different acute concentrations of Silver Sulfate as a toxicant

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of silver sulfate (AgSO4) as a toxicant in goldfish (Carassiusauratus). One hundred and forty-seven live specimens of C. auratus were obtained and exposed to 1, 10, 100, 500, 1000 and 2000 ppm of AgSO4for 96 hours. There was one control group (no AgSO4) and three replicates. The physicochemical properties of water and the following parameters were const...
